Craftsouth: Centre for Contemporary Craft and Design is the peak industry organisation in South Australia for craft, design and visual art practitioners.

Established in 1966 to assist the professional development of craft practitioners, today Craftsouth delivers a wide range of services to equip craft, design and visual art practitioners with the skills and know-how to establish markets and build audiences for their work.

Craftsouth provides Accreditation to contemporary craft, design and visual art practitioners.

Craftsouth also provides a free Referral Service which puts curators, retailers, researchers and others in contact with our membership of highly skilled craft and design practitioners, enabling a wide range of opportunities, from retail consignment to interior fit-outs to research, from private and public art commissions to exhibitions. Key Objectives of Craftsouth

  • REPRESENT: identify needs and broker new opportunities for craft, design and visual art practitioners;
  • DEVELOP: deliver services which increase the professionalism and sustainability of craft, design and visual art practitioners;
  • PROMOTE: present the work of South Australian craft, design and visual art practitioners in innovative ways and to new markets;
  • RELEVANCE: maintain organisational strength and relevance.
  • This is achieved by a team of professional staff, responsible for the effective management of the organisation's policies and efficient management of its resources, working in conjunction with a board comprised of South Australian craft, design, and visual art practitioners, and other indsutry specialists.
