Thirty-one exhibitors selected from a record number of entrants presented work in Wish List 2009: Craftsouth Members Exhibition, held 10 July–1 August 2009.

The exhibition at Adelaide Central Gallery, Norwood, South Australia, presented to local audiences and provided public recognition of the innovation, creativity and diversity of practice within the South Australian craft, design and visual art community. The exhibition was opened by Dr Christine Nicholls, writer, curator, Flinders University senior lecturer in Australian studies and Craftsouth board member. More than 200 people from the local arts community attended the opening.

Artists featured in Wish List 2009 were: Alison Arnold (ceramics), Lauryn Arnott (work on paper), Bev Bills (textiles), Cathy Brooks (print making), Thomas Buchanan (painting), Matt Burgess (glass), Fran Callen (drawing), John Ferguson (ceramics), Sorcha Flett (jewellery), Robert Habel (painting), Juju Haifawi (jewellery), Phil Hart (ceramics), Stephanie James-Manttan (ceramics), Meghann Jones (metal), Heidi Karo (painting), Erin Keys (metal), Pamel Kouwenhoven (mixed media), Hans Kreiner (installation), Janice Lane (painting), Alison Main (painting), Cathryn Marinos (painting), Brian O’Malley (painting), Megan O’Hara (painting), Radka Passianova (jewellery), Jane Robertson (ceramics), Regine Schwarzer (metal), Silvia Stansfield (ceramics), Jennifer Taylor (glass), Kim Thomson (jewellery), Rebecca Whittemore (photography), Sally Wickes (sculpture).

The diversity of visual art genres represented annually in Wish List reflects Craftsouth’s relevance to craftspeople, designers and visual artists, and also our capacity to offer highly successful audience development opportunities for the membership.

Craftsouth would like to thank Adelaide Central Gallery for hosting the exhibition and in particular Ingrid Kellenbach, CEO Adelaide Central School of Art, and Elizabeth Pascale, former Adelaide Central Gallery director, for their generous support. Craftsouth would also like to acknowledge the members of the Wish List selection committee who were faced with the unenviable challenge of selecting a relatively small number of works from a record number of entrants this year.
